Lady Owls soccer team shut out by No. 6 Benedictine

ATCHISON, Kan. - The William Woods University Lady Owls soccer team was outshot by a decisive 28-1 margin in falling to 0-2 on the season after Sunday's 5-0 loss to sixth-ranked Benedictine College.

Kara Hines tallied Benedictine's first goal off an assist from Liz Enna in the 10th minute. The Lady Ravens then made it 2-0 when Anna Romana scored off another Enna assist in the 18th minute. Rosie McShane followed with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute, and Ashley Chandler supplied Benedictine's final two goals in the 71st and 79th minutes, respectively.

Senior midfielder Annie Graber accounted for William Woods' lone shot. Senior starting goalkeeper Ashley Parisi recorded seven saves and freshman backup Rebecca Sturgess had three for the Lady Owls.

William Woods - which still has yet to score a goal this season - hosts Avila (Kan.) University at 7 p.m. Thursday at Firley Field.
