Four teams, two nights for a good cause

Friday and Saturday nights, Nov. 20 and 21, four Callaway County high schools will get together for their annual Basketball Jamboree. But this year's event is for more than just a preseason show. It's to support a good cause as well.

"Usually we don't charge for people to come watch the games," Athletic Director Mike Emmons of North Callaway said. "But this year we decided to take advantage of an opportunity to support the Buddy Pack Program." The pro- gram is in place to provide nutritious food for students to take home over the weekends so that they will have enough to eat.

"We're asking for jars of peanut butter or a monetary donation for admission to both events," Emmons said.

Friday night's game will show- case the girls' teams from South Callaway, North Callaway, Fulton, New Bloomfield and will take place at the South Callaway High School Gym beginning at 5 p.m. Then Saturday the boys' teams will compete at North Callaway, also beginning at 5 p.m. Officials will be on hand to call the games, which will consist of two, six-minute halves in a round robin competition.
