North Callaway's Schmauch makes state cross country championships

BOWLING GREEN - Sophomore Reyna Schmauch will compete at the state meet for the North Callaway Ladybirds cross country team after taking second at the Class 2, District 3 championships Saturday.

Schmauch logged a time of 20 minutes, 10.67 seconds to finish behind Father Tolton junior Rachel Selva, who triumphed in 20:05.93. It was the second head-to-head meeting between the two runners this season after Schmauch took first and Selva was third at the Centralia Invitational on Oct. 13.

Schmauch and Selva will now square off for a third time in the Class 2 girls' state championships at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.

Sophomores Alyssa Rinehart and Brooke Fischer also placed 19th (22:49.26) and 33rd (24:37.91), respectively, for the Ladybirds at the District 3 championships.

North Callaway took 11th as a team with 296 points in the boys' division. Placing for the Thunderbirds were freshman Khobi Kellerman (45th, 21:03.84), freshman Ean Rohrbach (58th, 22:25.67), freshman Ivan Roesner (62nd, 22:41.85), sophomore Jared Bailey (65th, 23:17.17), and freshman Justin Coffman (66th, 23:19.55).
