Hornets senior Sam Christensen is on his way to the Class 4 championships after a second-place showing in the boys' high jump at the Sectional 2 championships on Saturday at MICDS High School.
The Class 4 track and field championships will occur this Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University's Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City.
Christensen cleared the bar at an even six feet to finish in a first-place tie with Parkway North senior Taylor McNeal, who was declared the sectional champion after Christensen conceded the jump-off due to a lingering hamstring injury.
Lady Hornets junior Madison Tobias competed in the girls' high jump, finishing with an eighth place at 4-6.
