Callaway County deputies arrested two men after a traffic stop and brief foot chase Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Bill Akers, with the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, told the Fulton Sun that a deputy noticed Jordan Raps operating a vehicle and knew that Raps' driver's license had previously been revoked. The deputy pulled the vehicle over near Bluff and Sixth streets in Fulton and arrested Raps for driving while revoked.

The passenger in Raps' car, Ron Wainwright, had warrants for his arrest out of St. Louis, Akers said. During the traffic stop, Akers said Wainwright took off running, attempting to take shelter at his grandmother's house about a block away. Deputies caught up to Wainwright in the backyard of a residence on Bluff Street, near Sixth, and arrested him.

Wainwright reported having an injury. While Akers could not comment on the specifics of Wainwright's injury, he said it was not caused by law enforcement.

Akers added that the Callaway Sheriff's Office was thankful for the Fulton Police Department's assistance in securing the area during this traffic stop and chase.
