South Callaway bats silent in loss to Blair Oaks

The suddenly scuffling Bulldogs produced only one hit and committed five errors in Saturday's 4-0 non-conference loss to the Falcons.

The setback was the third in a row and fourth in the last five games for South Callaway (12-5). The results from the second game of the Bulldogs' doubleheader Saturday against Iberia were not available at press time.

Blair Oaks broke a scoreless tie by putting up two runs in the top of the fifth inning, then tallied two insurance runs in the seventh.

South Callaway's lone hit came on an infield single by senior first baseman Caleb Sconce in the bottom of the third. Sconce was thrown out trying to steal second later in the inning.

Senior starter Terry Miles was pinned with the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing four runs - two earned - on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. Miles struck out five and issued four walks.

South Callaway travels to Wright City for a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. Monday.
