Westminster sets seven school records at Wildcat Open

Freshman Anna Houston established four Lady Blue Jay program records, while three Blue Jays broke previously set school marks as Westminster began its outdoor season at the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open on Saturday.

Houston claimed first place in the triple jump in a record distance of 10.36 meters. She cleared the high jump bar with a second-place mark of 1.34 meters and took third in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters, tallying school records in both events.

Houston set her final record in the 100-meter hurdles, taking fourth place in her preliminary heat in a time of 16.37 seconds.

Junior Brier Skogsberg finished was the runner up in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:39.48. Freshman Maria Rains earned fourth place in the 400 with a run of 1:04.13. The Lady Blue Jays totaled 49 team points to claim fifth place out of eight squads.

Junior Bret Robertson broke the school record in the men's javelin, claiming first place with a throw of 54.44 meters. Freshman Sam Kroll-Taugsolo won the men's shot put with a record heave of 13.31 meters, while senior Michael Lutz claimed fourth in the hammer throw with a school-record distance of 35.21.

Freshman Glenn Teubner won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:42.81. Sophomore Ryan Dyer took second in the 800 (2:03.68), while senior Daniel Lindaman was the runner up in the 5,000 (16:22.58).

Dyer teamed with senior Dan Breihan, junior Hussein Attara and freshman Addison Conway to run a fifth-place time of 3:48.47 in the 1,600-meter relay. The Blue Jays collected 51 points to claim sixth in the team standings.

Both teams will compete at the Washington University-St. Louis Invitational this coming Friday and Saturday.
