William Woods' Dey earns weekly AMC baseball recognition

Junior first baseman Jordan Dey hit four home runs and drove in nine runs last weekend for the Owls and was selected American Midwest Conference player of the week Monday.

Dey - a Sedalia native - batted .308 (4-for-13) with four runs scored and an exceptional 1.231 slugging percentage as William Woods University swept a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday in Brookhaven, Mississippi, against Calumet College of St. Joseph.

Dey hammered a grand slam in the Owls' 5-3 victory over Calumet on Saturday afternoon, then followed with a pair of homers in a 14-5 romp Saturday night.

William Woods (9-3) - winners of five in a row - starts AMC play at Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) University at 6 p.m. Friday. The two teams will then play a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday.
