No. 25 William Woods sweeps Calumet College

The No. 25 Owls toppled the Crimson Wave 5-3 on Saturday to complete a four-game sweep.

William Woods (9-3) finished with 11 hits in a 14-5 victory in Saturday's first game.

Junior catcher Grant Garrett went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while senior third baseman Austin Clapp was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Junior first baseman Jordan Dey went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a run scored.

Senior reliever Dustin Kremer struck out two batters 1 2/3 flawless innings to earn the win.

Junior Garrett Haslag was the winning pitcher in the Owls' 7-0 triumph over Calumet on Friday.

Haslag fanned five in four scoreless innings, giving up three hits and walking a pair.

Senior Cody Stewart and sophomore Alex St. Pierre each had two hits and two RBIs, while Dey was 1-for-3 with an RBI to push William Woods to nine hits.

St. Pierre's two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed across the decisive runs in William Woods' 7-4 series-opening win over the Crimson Wave.

St. Pierre's one-out smack to right field plated Clapp and Kremer to break a 4-all tie. He and Kremer each finished 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Owls outhit Calumet 8-7.

Senior reliever Dylan Hastings garnered the win thanks to two perfect frames. Hastings struck out three and walked two.

Dey was named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week after batting .308 (4-of-13) with four homers, nine RBIs and a slugging percentage of 1.231.

William Woods begins AMC play at Freed-Hardemann (Tennessee) University at 6 p.m. Friday.
