The Ladybirds were outscored by the Lady Hawks 34-10 in the second and third quarters combined in Thursday night's 50-36 Eastern Missouri Conference loss.
North Callaway took a 12-7 lead into the second quarter, but was then outscored 16-4 as Clopton carried a 23-16 advantage into halftime. The Lady Hawks took command by outscoring the Ladybirds 18-6 in the third quarter to widen their lead to 41-22.
The loss was the second in a row for North Callaway, which dropped to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in the EMO.
"It's hard to win when you score 10 points in two quarters, especially against a good team like Clopton," Ladybirds head coach Matt Miller said. "We just got stagnant and are fighting ourselves a little bit on offense, and pressing.
"We had no ball movement and then no people movement. We've got the right people taking shots, but we don't have a lot of confidence in our jumper right now."
Freshman guard Kyla Bertschinger led North Callaway with 11 points and seven rebounds, while junior guards Erinn Bush and Skylar Schmauch contributed six points apiece.
Sabrina Stewart responded with a game-high 15 points to guide four players in double figures for Clopton (15-1, 5-0). Ashtyn Lagemann also provided 12 points, Lauren Lagemann contributed 11 and Emily Brune finished with 10.
The Ladybirds (8-4) suffered a narrow 36-35 loss in the junior varsity game. Freshman guard Nicole Emmons connected for a team-high 14 points, including three 3-pointers.
North Callaway, drawing the fifth seed, will face No. 4 Winfield at 6 p.m. Monday in the first round of the Bowling Green Tournament.
