No. 1 Hornets wrestling team trips Kirksville

The top-ranked Fulton Hornets wrestling team, logging 30 points from five forfeit victories, remained undefeated by easing to a 59-15 NCMC win over the Kirksville Tigers on Tuesday night.

Fulton - which also triumphed in six of the eight contested matches - is now 17-0 on the season and 3-0 in the North Central Missouri Conference. The Hornets are ranked No. 1 in Class 2 by rankwrestlers.com.

Here are Tuesday night's individual results, by weight class:

•106 pounds - freshman Tucker Caswell (F) won by forfeit; 113 - sophomore Devan Hudson (F) won by forfeit; 120 - sophomore Brandon Dews (F) pinned Hayden Hamlin (K) in 4:00; 126 - freshman Jacob Kern (F) won by forfeit; 132 - junior Josh McClure (F) won by 2-0 decision over Jarrett Jacques (K);

•138 - Tanner Sparks (K) won by forfeit; 145 - junior Trenton Clines (F) won by 6-3 decision over Branden Beeler (K); 152 - sophomore Luke Berrey (F) pinned Tyler Davis (K) in 2:36; 160 - Ryan Merenda (K) won by 10-9 decision over junior Andy Baysinger (F); 170 - senior Noah Braun (F) pinned Vin Kriegshauser (K) in 2:35;

•182 - senior Taylor Gillooly (F) won by forfeit; 195 - junior Zach Benner (F) won by 15-0 technical fall over Christopher Schulte (K); 220 - Makenna Cook (K) pinned senior Austin Anderson (F) in :00; 285 - junior Clayton Bristol (F) won by forfeit.

Surprisingly, Fulton will wrestle at home for the first time this season when it competes in a triangular with Blair Oaks and Centralia at 6 p.m. Thursday at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.
