New Bloomfield rolls at Tuscumbia to start Show-Me Conference play

A quartet of Lady Wildcats had two-RBI nights as they coasted to an 11-2 win over the Lady Lions in their Show-Me Conference opener on Thursday night.

Freshman center fielder Haley Berhorst finished 3-for-4, scored twice, drove in two and slapped a pair of doubles for New Bloomfield (3-0, 1-0 SMC), which outhit Tuscumbia 12-9.

Junior third baseman Madison Love was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Junior starter Kate Baxter was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while striking out five in three innings to get the win.

She gave up seven hits, two earned runs and walked two in her first start of the year.

Senior first baseman Stephanie Davis was 2-for-3 with two driven in.

"We were much more disciplined at bat when we got better swings," Lady Wildcats head coach Dara Reinkemeyer said. "We hit the ball harder, even girls that got out, the ball were more solidly hit."

New Bloomfield plays a non-conference game at Hallsville at 5 p.m. today.
