Senior outside hitter Bethany Bloss led the way for the Ladybirds in their straight-set season-opening loss to the Lady Indians on Monday.
Bloss collected team highs of 15 digs and six kills to pace North Callaway, who bowed 25-21 and 25-20. Junior middle hitter Colleen Meffert chipped in with 10 digs in the debut contest for new head coach, Liz Gragnani.
"It's a great improvement from last year, but there are some things we need to get fine-tuned and get everybody working together," Gragnani said. "Everything needs to come together."
The Ladybirds play at Southern Boone at 5:30 p.m. today.
