Lady Wildcats waltz past Wellsville in opener

Junior starter Madison Love crafted a one-hit shutout to power the Lady Wildcats' 10-0 six-inning triumph over the Lady Tigers on Friday night.

Love fanned four and walked one, while going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI at the plate. She plated sophomore Madi Craighead on a two-out single in the top of the first to open the scoring, then doubled in freshman Haley Berhorst with one out in the third.

New Bloomfield tacked on four runs in the fourth, followed with three in the fifth and topped off the scoring with a lone run in the sixth. Junior Rylee Rackers was 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Craighead went 2-for-3, drove in a run and stole a base.

Senior Stephanie Davis was 2-for-4 with an RBI, junior Kate Baxter was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a triple. Berhorst finished 1-for-4 with two RBI and a steal to round out the Lady Wildcats' 13-hit onslaught.

New Bloomfield opened the JV season with a 13-0, four-inning romp. Freshman Kaylee Beck struck out nine and allowed one hit in four inning.

The Lady Wildcats host New Haven in their home opener at 5 p.m. today.
