The 13th Judicial Circuit Court will be recognized Tuesday at 4 p.m. during an award ceremony at the Callaway County Courthouse.
The circuit court will receive an award for its speedy processing of child abuse and neglect cases Beth Riggert, the Missouri Supreme Court Communications Counsel, said. The Commission for Children's Justice was formed to make improvements to that system by establishing timelines for different processes in a case and placing the children involved in a safe and temporary home, she added.
The award was created to help courts understand the importance of the timely standards set forth by the commission, which are used to determine the award recipients.
The circuit court is one of 14 other circuit courts being recognized across Missouri, which has 45 judicial circuit courts statewide. This is the eighth time the 13th Judicial Court is receiving this award.
