No. 5 Lady Owls place second at Indiana State Invitational

A significant second-round improvement served the No. 5 William Woods Lady Owls well at the Indiana State Spring Invitational.

The Lady Owls bettered their first-round score by eight strokes to secure a runner-up showing at the event on Monday.

William Woods - in fifth place after the first round - finished at 40-over-par 616 (312-304), just behind host Indiana State's 33-over-par 609 (301-308). Bradley University, Western Illinois and Loyola University rounded out the top five.

Junior Myriam Hassan directed the Lady Owls, claiming fourth place with a 7-over-par 151 (76-75). Freshmen Celia Monsour (76-78) and Megan Cullen (78-76) each posted a 10-over-par 154 to tie for eighth place.

Freshman Katie Warren claimed 20th place with a 13-over-par 157 (82-75), while junior Jodie Peacock recorded a 19-over-par 163 (82-81), good for 40th.

Junior Alejandra Ferrer competed as an individual and shot a 27-over-par 171 (89-82) to finish in 62nd.

William Woods will play at the American Midwest Conference Preview on Thursday, April 23 in Eureka.
