Lady Bulldogs' Oberdiek, Jennings capture victories in field events

South Callaway seniors Hannah Oberdiek and Sarah Jennings triumphed in the girls' long jump and javelin throw, respectively, at the Northwest Invitational on Saturday.

Oberdiek - the defending Class 2 long jump champion - completed a leap of 17 feet, 1/2 inch to best the field. Oberdiek placed third in the 200-meter dash (26.32 seconds), while taking fifth in the 100 in :13.36.

Jennings won the javelin with a throw of 83-10, defeating the second-place finisher by just over nine feet. She cleared the high-jump bar at 5-0 to garner third place and earned seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 33-3.

Freshman Adrian Mann competed in the 800 and claimed fifth place in a time of 2:32.13.

The foursome of Jennings, Oberdiek, Mann and senior Alexis Wetherell took third in the 400 relay with a time of :52.39.

The Lady Bulldogs tallied 48 points to finish seventh in the team standings. The South Callaway boys team didn't field any competitors at the event.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will compete at the Show-Me Conference Championships at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Russellville.
