North Callaway School Board

The election winners for the the North Callaway School Board were incumbent Scott Starkey and newcomer Amy Reinhard - both winning with more than 34 percent of the vote.

Starkey, who reclaimed his seat on the board, said he hopes to do the best he can for the district in the next three years.

"I'd like to see the bond issue completed," Starkey said.

North Callaway R-I voters said "yes" to the $6 million Proposition K.I.D.S. bond issue in November. The bond issue will fund multiple major projects in the district including the construction of a new agri-science building, technology upgrades and renovations to existing science classrooms at the high school.

Starkey began this project with the current board of education members, and he has worked on it "for what seems like ten years."

He said passing a bond issue is a "big step for any board to accomplish, and it will have a really big, positive impact" on the school when it is completed.

Starkey said he did not do much campaigning in the election, but he believes being the incumbent and his experience being on the board as well as his work thus far has helped people recognize his name, helping him get re-elected.

Newly-elected board member Amy Reinhard was unavailable for comments.
