Fulton places fourth at Eldon quadrangle

Junior Jake Hammerstone tallied a 45 to pace the Hornets in a second-place showing against the host Mustangs, Stover and Iberia on Tuesday at the Eldon Golf Club.

Eldon claimed first place with a 170, followed by Fulton in second with a 189. Stover (199) came in third and Iberia (213) was fourth.

Senior Matt Henry also totaled a 46 for the Hornets, while senior Austin Wilson and junior Gage Oestreich shot a pair of 49s.

Eldon's Spencer Rogers captured medalist honors with a 39.

"It was the first time we've all been in the 40s and that's a great sign of improvement," Fulton head coach Pat Kelley said. "We still have some things to iron out and hopefully we'll get some more days like this where it's warm and relatively dry, and we can continue to improve."

Sophomore Isaac Franklin shot a team-low 44 in the Hornets' third-place finish at the Callaway Cup on Monday at Tanglewood Golf Course.

Oestreich followed with a 50, senior Hunter Bethell had a 51 and Hammerstone added a 52.

South Callaway won with a 181, second-place New Bloomfield notched a 189, Fulton took third with a 196 and North Callaway came in fourth with a 276.

Junior Logan Taylor was medalist with a score of 41 to pace South Callaway. Sophomore Blake Parker also shot a 48 for the Bulldogs, senior Luke Horstman scored a 48, while senior Jacob Smith and sophomore Braeden Sconce added a 49 and 50, respectively.

Sophomore Gannon Withers led New Bloomfield with a 44, while senior Tyler Grace notched a 45.

Fulton plays in a quad against host School of the Osage, Versailles and Cole Camp at 4 p.m. Thursday. New Bloomfield and South Callaway compete in a Show-Me Conference match at Eugene at 4 p.m. Thursday.

North Callaway plays at the Father Tolton Invitational at 9 a.m. Monday.
