William Woods offense scarce in AMC losses to Lindenwood-Belleville

The Lady Owls registered two runs and eight hits in bowing to the Lady Lynx in both halves of an American Midwest Conference doubleheader on Monday.

William Woods (15-18, 4-4 AMC) has lost four in a row and five of its last six.

Senior pinch-hitter Caroline Sicht supplied the Lady Owls' lone run in the second game, blasting a solo homer in the top of the sixth inning of a 9-1 loss.

Lindenwood-Belleville (17-17, 10-4 AMC) scored three times in the first, four in the fifth and its final two runs in the sixth.

Sophomore center fielder Hannah Campbell finished 2-for-3 with a stolen base, Sicht went 1-for-1 and senior right fielder Megan Cooper was 1-for-3.

Freshman Bre Logan pitched 5 2/3 innings to take the loss. Logan allowed nine runs (six earned) on six hits, walked three and struck out three.

Freshman Allison Waskow fanned five in a complete-game 5-1 loss to open the twinbill. Waskow scattered six hits, allowed five runs (two earned) and walked three.

Sophomore right fielder Beth Begemann's solo home run in the top of the fifth was William Woods' lone piece of offense. The Lynx scored a run in each of the first two innings, then tallied three in the fourth.

Begemann was 1-for-2, while Campbell, senior first baseman Kacey Scharnhorst and sophomore catcher Madison McCormick each went 1-for-3.

The Lady Owls remain on the road for an AMC doubleheader at St. Louis College of Pharmacy today. Games will begin at 5 and 7 p.m., respectively.
