Miles, South Callaway shut out Tuscumbia in SMC action

Senior Terry Miles struck out seven over six innings in the Bulldogs' 4-0 Show-Me Conference shutout of the Lions on Monday.

Miles yielded the Lions' only hit and walked three for South Callaway (4-0, 2-0 SMC).

Senior left fielder Mason Shoemaker scored on a two-out passed ball in the bottom of the third inning to open the scoring for the Bulldogs. Senior third baseman Tyler Adams scored on freshman right fielder Kaden Helsel's groundout in the fifth to expand South Callaway's lead to 3-0.

Senior first baseman Caleb Sconce singled in a run in the sixth, while sophomore utility player Grayson Peneston plated the Bulldogs' final run with two outs in the same inning.

Peneston was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Shoemaker was 1-for-2, while Adams and Sconce each were 1-for-3 to round out South Callaway's five hits.

The Bulldogs begin pool play in the Montgomery County Tournament on Wednesday. South Callaway will play the host Wildcats at 2 p.m. and will tussle with Clopton at 4 p.m. the same day.
