Junior midfielder Monica Bittner delivered the match's only goal and the host Lady Blue Jays triumphed in their SLIAC opener 1-0 by not allowing any shots Saturday night.
Bittner scored in the 36th minute on junior forward Tayisah Pohtos' assist as Westminster College halted a two-match losing streak to even its season record at 4-4. The Lady Beavers - also starting conference play - tumbled to 5-6.
Freshman goalkeeper Payton Beeler recorded the easy shutout as the Lady Blue Jays outshot Blackburn College 17-0. Westminster managed just one goal despite tallying 11 shots on goal and also totalled four corner kicks.
The Lady Blue Jays continue St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a match at Greenville (Illinois) College at 5 p.m. Saturday.
