Lady Bulldogs battle past Bowling Green

MOKANE - Senior right fielder Emily Caldwell drove in the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning of the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs' 2-1 win over the Bowling Green Lady Bobcats on Friday.

Caldwell drove in senior second baseman Paige Brown with one out.

South Callaway (12-4) took the lead in the third when sophomore shortstop Nicole Horstman singled home junior Kennedy Farley.

Bowling Green evened the game with a run in the top of the fifth.

Junior starter Ashley Miller finished 2-for-3 as the Lady Bulldogs collected six hits. Miller allowed five hits and a run while walking one in four innings.

Sophomore Konnor Arrowood worked three innings of relief and struck out five to earn the victory. Arrowood gave up just two hits and issued a walk.

South Callaway dropped the junior varsity game 3-0.

The Lady Bulldogs host Harrisburg at 5 p.m. Monday.
