North Callaway goes down to Centralia in straight sets

The Ladybirds tumbled to 2-5 overall after bowing to the Lady Panthers 25-6 and 25-10 on Thursday night.

Junior middle hitter Bethany Bloss topped North Callaway with eight kills and added 10 digs and two blocks, while junior middle hitter Destri Eichman tallied a team-high 15 digs to go with four kills and a block. Sophomore outside hitter Colleen Meffert contributed 13 digs and one kill.

Junior setter Bailey Langworthy also provided 10 assists and two digs for the Ladybirds, while freshman outside hitter Nicole Emmons contributed four digs and a kill.

"The scores do not reflect how well the girls played; I was very proud of them," North Callaway head coach Amy Spence said. "Centralia is definitely one of the top teams we will play this season.

"We were where we were supposed to be defensively, we communicated as a team, and whenever we got a good pass to the setter, we were able to execute the play."

The Ladybirds host Hallsville at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
