William Woods women's, men's golf teams sweep CMU Eagle Invitational

BOONVILLE - The William Woods University women's and men's golf teams both set school records for 36 holes in claiming the titles as the Central Methodist University Eagle Invitational concluded Tuesday at Hail Ridge Golf Course.

The William Woods women shot a 4-over par 580 (293-287) as a team, while the William Woods men compiled a 12-under 556 (276-280) as a squad. The Lady Owls' and Owls' "B" teams both finished second with respective 647 (324-323) and 576 (294-282) totals.

Freshmen Katie Warren (72-69) and Celia Mansour (70-71) shared first place in the women's division with a pair of 3-under 141s, establishing a 36-hole school record to direct William Woods. Freshman Andrea Agniel tied for third with a 149 (73-76), while junior Myriam Hassan came in fifth with a 150 (79-71).

Freshman Megan Cullen completed the Lady Owls' scoring by taking eighth with a 160 (78-82).

On the men's side, sophomore David Houlding finished first with a 2-under 137 (69-68) to pace William Woods. Senior Stan Gautier was next in second with a 138 (69-69), freshman Alasdair McDougall came in fourth with a 140 (70-70), sophomore Billy McKenzie took fifth with a 141 (68-73), and senior Julian Taylor finished in a tie for eighth with a 144 (70-74).

The Lady Owls and Owls return to action Monday, Sept. 29. The William Woods women open play in the Columbia College Cougar Invitational, while the William Woods men begin play at the Mid-South Invitational in Newton, Kansas.
