South Callaway drops home game to Southern Boone

Junior Nicole Horstman finished 3-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in as the Lady Bulldogs bowed 8-5 to the Lady Eagles on Wednesday night. The game resumed in the second inning after being suspended by lightning Tuesday night.

South Callaway (7-4) used two runs to jump out to a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the second. Southern Boone answered with two runs in the fourth to pull even, then put up a run apiece in the fifth and sixth to take a 5-3 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs plated a pair of runs in the sixth to tie the game, but the Lady Eagles tacked on three runs in the seventh to take control.

Senior Kaitlyn Loucks was 1-for-4 with an RBI as South Callaway recorded six hits. Seniors Paige Brown and Emily Caldwell were both 1-for-3.

Sophomore reliever Konnor Arrowood worked four innings in taking the loss for the Lady Bulldogs. Arrowood allowed six runs on seven hits, struck out one and issued two walks.

The Lady Bulldogs were shut out in the junior varsity game 5-0.

South Callaway played at Hallsville on Thursday night. Results were not available at press time.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to New Haven at 5 p.m. Monday.
