New Bloomfield rolls past Wellsville

The Lady Wildcats ran their win streak to five games by dispatching the Lady Tigers 11-1 in six innings on Monday night.

New Bloomfield (5-1) grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second after Wellsville went on top with a run in the top of the first.

Senior Megan Jenkins ripped a two-run double to drive in sophomore Madison Love and senior Taylor Howard to push the Lady Wildcats to a 2-1 edge. Sophomore Lena Love scored when senior Kearia Ruppel reached on an error and Jenkins scored on sophomore pitcher Kate Baxter's single to close out New Bloomfield's scoring for the frame.

The Lady Wildcats posted another run in the fifth, then concluded the game with six runs in the sixth.

Jenkins was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Bonnett and Madison Love both went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Senior Kennedy Pieter was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Baxter finished 2-for-4 with a run driven in as New Bloomfield collected 15 hits.

Baxter (2-0) struck out three and allowed a run on three hits in notching a complete-game triumph.

"The defense really stepped up and made the plays behind their pitcher," Lady Wildcats head coach Dara Reinkemeyer said.

New Bloomfield fell in the JV game 5-2.

The Lady Wildcats play at Harrisburg at 5 p.m. tonight.
