North Callaway downed by Southern Boone in straight sets

Junior middle hitter Bethany Bloss supplied a team-high 14 digs and put away five kills in the Ladybirds' 25-13, 25-12 loss to the Lady Eagles on Monday.

Bloss also chipped in five kills and a team-best three blocks for North Callaway (2-2).

Freshman outside hitter Nicole Emmons led the Ladybirds with eight kills and chipped in nine digs. Senior setter Emily Montgomery led North Callaway with 10 assists, while junior setter Bailey Langworthy collected eight.

"We just couldn't get where we needed to be defensively," North Callaway head coach Amy Spence said. "We had a lot of good blocks and kills. We had some great moments, but the thing that killed us was our defense."

The Ladybirds' JV team fell to 1-3 with a 25-11, 25-10 loss.

North Callaway hits the road for a game at Calvary Lutheran at 6 p.m. tonight.
