William Woods men's golf team wraps up fourth straight Missouri Intercollegiate title

SUNRISE BEACH - Senior Stan Gautier and sophomore David Houlding shared individual honors to guide the William Woods University men's golf team to the Missouri Intercollegiate Championship title for the fourth year in a row Wednesday.

Gautier (69-69) - a University of Kansas transfer - and Houlding (67-71), a returning NAIA All-American, tied for first place with a pair of 6-under par 138s. William Woods University rolled to the team title with a 14-under 562 (277-285), ending up 34 strokes ahead of second-place Missouri Southern State.

The Owls' "B" team took eighth with a 610 (308-302).

William Woods senior Julian Taylor came in third with a 140 (70-70). Taylor is also a returning first-team NAIA All-American and the reigning American Midwest Conference player of the year.

Sophomore Billy McKenzie - who won the Phil Mickelson Award last season as the nation's top freshman player - tied for seventh with a 146 (71-75). Freshman Alasdair McDonald completed the Owls' scoring by placing 29th with a 154 (76-78).

William Woods plays in the Central Methodist University Eagle Invitational starting Monday, Sept. 15, in Boonville.
