William Woods bows to Central Methodist in double overtime

Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Griffin saved 13 shots, but the Lady Eagles snapped the Lady Owls' four-match winning streak in double-overtime 2-1 Thursday night.

Bola Adeoba tallied the game-winner for Central Methodist University in the 109th minute on an assist by Jamie Krediet.

William Woods University (7-6-2) took the game to extra periods despite a sizable 15-2 disadvantage in shots on goal.

Senior midfielder Rachel Meyer put the Lady Owls on top with an unassisted goal in the 31st minute.

The Lady Owls then evened the match when Kelsey Vanzant scored in the 74th minute on an assist from Nicki Noreen.

The Lady Owls played an American Midwest Conference match at Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.

William Woods plays its home finale at 2 p.m. today against Johnson & Wales (Colorado) University at Firley Field.
