Lady Wildcats stumble down stretch

New Bloomfield wears down in fourth quarter as state-ranked Lady Bulldogs take control

— New Bloomfield head coach Brett Craighead didn’t feel like his team let the New Franklin Lady Bulldogs hang around. In fact, Craighead couldn’t think of much else his Lady Wildcats could have done except to shoot the ball just a bit better.

“I think we did all we could,” Craighead said. “I thought we played really well the first half, we didn’t shoot the ball well the whole game, but we played hard — and the third and fourth quarter we went absolutely cold.”

New Bloomfield was knotted in a 24-all tie with No. 5 New Franklin, but faded in the final quarter as it fell to the Lady Bulldogs 46-39 in Class 2 sectional play Wednesday night at Jefferson City High School’s Fleming Fieldhouse.
