Fulton man hit by tractor-trailer

A Fulton man who, the Highway Patrol reported, was “on the roadway,” was listed in critical condition Saturday at University Hospital, after he was hit by a tractor-trailer rig.

Troopers said Robert D. Durigano, 23, Fulton, was flown to the Columbia hospital by helicopter, after he was hit in the westbound lanes by a westbound 2004 Kenworth tractor-trailer unit driven by Mark R. Morse, 48, Burlington, Iowa.

The accident happened at 6:09 a.m. Saturday, on U.S. 54 about eight-tenths of a mile north of the Route B intersection.
