Fulton reaches recycling goal

The City of Fulton is waiving the recycling cart usage fee for July after reaching its recycling challenge goal.

Fulton residents collected 45 tons of recyclables between April 1 and June 30, according to a press release from the city.

The challenge was designed to boost local recycling efforts, and at the same time cuts costs as trash trucks need to make less trips to the Allied Landfill in Jefferson City.

Residents interested in recycling can call the Sold Waste Department at (573) 592-3176 to reserve a cart.

There are only 45-gallon containers available at the moment, but residents can put their names on a waiting list for 65- or 96-gallon containers.
