New Bloomfield School Board runoff election slated for July 15

New Bloomfield residents will vote between Gracia Backer and Megan Haas in a runoff election for a school board seat on July 15.

The Callaway County Clerk's Office reported in April that Backer, current school board president, won by one vote - 268-267 - but a recount request from Haas, New Bloomfield parent and first-time candidate, determined the candidates were actually tied at 267 votes each.

Voting will take place 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 323 Redwood Drive.

Residents can also absentee vote through the Callaway County Clerk's Office, which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 12.

Those wanting to mail in their vote must turn in a written request first to the clerk's office.

Requests for an absentee ballot and more information on absentee voting are available online at callawaycountyclerk.com.

The clerk's office number is (573) 642-0730 and is located at 10 E. Fifth Street in Fulton.
