An Auxvasse man was one of two arrested Sunday following an alleged burglary and assault that took place in Columbia Saturday night.

Deputies arrested Kelsey C. Skouby, 25 of Auxvasse, and Jessie G. Smith, 22 of Columbia, after they allegedly entered a Columbia home, assaulted two people who were there and threatened to assault a third.

Boone County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an assault at a residence in the 1800 block of Prathersville Road Saturday. A Boone County Sheriff's Department release alleged that the two men came to the residence looking for a third person they knew. The release goes on to state the two men walked into the residence without permission after finding out the man they were looking for was inside.

Skouby and Smith allegedly assaulted the man they were searching for. Two others were present in the home — one yelled for another person to call 911 and attempted to help the victim.

The man who attempted to help the victim was also punched, the release states. The third person in the house was pushed into a wall as the suspects were leaving. She was threatened, but not assaulted.

The first victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He suffered minor injuries that were not life threatening, was treated and released. The woman who was threatened was not injured, and the other man who was assaulted was not injured.

Skouby and Smith were both arrested for two counts of third-degree assault and one count of first-degree burglary. The total bond for the assaults was $1,000 per suspect, and $50,000 for the burglary charges.

Skouby also had a $500 municipal failure to appear warrant.
