Junior guard Elaine Brinker led second-seeded North Callaway with 13 points in the Ladybirds' 53-24 victory over No. 7 Wright City in the first round of the Class 3, District 6 tournament on Monday evening.
North Callaway (20-6) will play either No. 3 Christian or No. 6 Montgomery County in semifinal play at 7:30 Wednesday.
The Ladybirds limited Wright City to single-digit scoring outputs in every quarter and took a 25-7 advantage into halftime.
"The girls played excellent defense for 32 minutes," North Callaway head coach Matt Miller said. "We played well enough to advance, which is what you want to do at this time of the year."

HERMANN - Senior guard Taylor Howard erupted for a game-high 35 points in pushing the No. 5 seed Lady Bulldogs past No. 4 Winfield in first-round play of the Class 3, District 6 tournament on Monday night.
South Callaway (11-11) will play No. 1 seed state-ranked Hermann (23-1) in the semifinal round at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Howard did a good amount of her damage from the line, connecting on 14-of-16 free throws. Junior forward Hannah Oberdiek went 7-for-8 from the field to finish with 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Konnor Arrowood totaled six points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs were able to build on a 30-20 halftime lead.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior guard Leigh Ann Lutz closed out her college career with a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds as the Lady Blue Jays outlasted Spalding for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win in their season finale on Saturday.
Westminster (14-11, 11-7) led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but Spalding used an 11-3 run over the final 6 minutes, 42 seconds of the half to cut its deficit 28-23 at intermission. The Lady Blue Jays pushed their advantage out to five points twice in the second half, but Spalding went up 47-46 on Kallie Ash's layup with 6:29 to go.
Sophomore point guard Mackenzie Haddox's jump shot 26 seconds later put Westminster back on top 48-47, a lead they'd never relinquish.

Junior guard Blake French tied her career high with 21 points as the Lady Owls locked up a sixth-straight 20-win season with a resounding American Midwest Conference victory over the Stephens College Stars on Saturday at Anderson Arena.
French finished 7-of-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range in guiding William Woods to its fourth win in a row.
Guards Katie Scherder and Kelsey Scherder joined French in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Lady Owls led 49-26 and rolled to the win behind a 54 percent shooting clip from the field (34-of-63) and 53 percent from beyond the arc. William Woods finished up outrebounding Stephens 43-35.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Blue Jays gave up a 3-pointer to Spalding forward William Barber with no time left as they dropped their SLIAC and regular season finale on Saturday.
Westminster (14-11, 11-7) had a 42-26 lead at halftime and maintained that advantage until a jump shot from Spalding's Domonique Sangester tied the game at 64-all with 1 minute, 43 seconds left. Senior guard Joe James hit a layup with 1:07 to go to put the Blue Jays back on top, but Spalding's Thomas Blackmore knocked down a jumper with :40 remaining to knot the game back up at 66-66.
Westminster played for the final shot, but a turnover with :02 left led to the game-winner from Barber.
Junior guard Brandon Moore led the Blue Jays with 18 points while fellow junior guard Verdis Lee Jr. added 14 points and a team-high five rebounds. Westminster finished 49 percent shooting (26-of-53), but got outrebounded 35-28.
Barber netted a game-high 20 points, Sangester totaled 16 and Brandon Gabriel tallied 10 points off of the bench for Spalding, which finished 46 percent from the floor (26-of-57).

JOPLIN - Senior pitcher Bubba Bradshaw threw five scoreless innings as the Owls finished up their run at the Joplin Tournament with a win over Viterbo (Wisc.) University on Sunday afternoon. William Woods opened up play in Joplin with a 2-1 loss on Friday, but downed them on Sunday to win its third game in a row.
Bradshaw (2-0) walked two and surrendered three hits while striking out three batters. Junior Dustin Kremer relieved him for the final two innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out two.

DECATUR, Ala. - The Lady Owls managed just two hits in nine innings, falling to Campbellsville at the Alabama Artic Blast on Saturday.
Senior left fielder Lindsey LeCuru had both hits for William Woods, going 2-for-3 with a double. Senior MacKenzie Bowden threw a complete game, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and 10 strikeouts.
The two teams entered extra innings in a scoreless tie with Campbellsville plating runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings while the Lady Owls scored their lone run in their half of the eighth.
William Woods went to extra innings right before the Campbellsville game, topping Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 4-3 in nine innings on Saturday.
Freshman center fielder Hannah Campbell, sophomore shortstop Shelby LeCuru and junior catcher Macy Wierschem all finished with two hits and Lindsey LeCuru was 1-for-4 with an RBI. The Lady Owls had nine hits and clinched the victory with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
