Sheriff's Office: Fulton man arrested after car chase reached speeds of 90 MPH

Driver was allegedly uncooperative, sped away from deputy

A Fulton man was arrested Saturday after allegedly speeding away from a Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputy who was attempting to pull over his vehicle, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.

The deputy tried to pull over the Fulton man's white Chevrolet truck for speeding and a stop sign violation around 1:40 a.m. Dec. 27 on County Road 269 near County Road 276. The driver - John Kevin Daly, 55 of Fulton - allegedly sped off.

The deputy pursued Daly's truck on County Road 269 in a chase that reached speeds of 90 MPH in a 35 MPH area, the release stated. The truck lost control and stopped on County Road 269.

The press release stated that Daly's license was revoked. It further stated that Daly was allegedly uncooperative with the deputy. He was arrested on charges of:

•Failure to stop at a posted stop sign;

•Fail to yield to an emergency vehicle operating lights and emergency siren;

•Resisting arrest, creating a substantial risk of injury or death;

•Exceeding posted speed limit;

•Operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent fashion;

•Driving While Revoked (felony); and

•Driving While Intoxicated (persistent offender).

The Sheriff's Office release stated that Daly has pending felony charges in Boone County for driving while revoked and driving while intoxicated (persistent offender), according to public records.

Daly was taken to the Callaway County Jail. As of 10 p.m. Sunday, Daly was still in custody with a $25,000 cash-only bond.
