No. 10 Freed-Hardeman topples Owls

The William Woods University Owls shot a dismal 33 percent as a team and trailed by 19 points at halftime in falling to the 10th-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) University Lions in Tuesday night's 74-53 AMC loss at Anderson Arena.

William Woods trailed 41-22 at intermission and made only 19-of-58 shots overall. The loss dropped the Owls to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the American Midwest Conference.

Sophomore guard Alec Mulvihill, with 12 points, was the only player to make it into double figures for William Woods, which finished with 15 turnovers. Sophomore guard Ryan Hill and sophomore forward Derrick Hayes contributed nine points apiece.

Four players had four rebounds apiece as the Owls were outrebounded 40-33.

Ben Meis was 8-of-14 from the field - making 6-of-11 tries from 3-point range - in putting up a game-high 25 points to lead Freed-Hardeman (9-1, 5-0). Evan Forhetz followed with 15 points as the Lions shot 47 percent (28-of-60) from the field and committed 13 turnovers.

William Woods remains at home for an AMC matchup against Lyon (Arkansas) College at 7:30 tonight.
