Lady Bulldogs move past Montgomery County

Sophomore guard Nicole Horstman posted a game-high 17 points to spark the Lady Bulldogs to a 52-45 victory over the Montgomery County Lady Wildcats on Monday night.

South Callaway (2-0) built a 13-6 lead through one quarter, then pushed out to an 11-point halftime lead after outscoring the Lady Wildcats 16-12 in the second.

South Callaway outgained Montgomery County 33-25 after the break. Senior guard Sarah Jennings added 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Allie Schlueter led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points.

"I think we really moved the ball pretty well; we stayed patient and that was the key was our patience," Lady Bulldogs head coach Darren Humphrey said. "They're a lot more physical than we are and that was the key was being patient and waiting for our shots."

South Callaway dropped its JV opener 31-15.

The Lady Bulldogs open Show-Me Conference play at Tuscumbia at 6 p.m. Thursday.
