JC child found safe in Atlanta

The Jefferson City child who authorities had issued an endangered person alert for has been found safe in Atlanta.

Jack Randolph had last been seen in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street around 12:20 p.m., Sunday.

Just after 10 a.m. Monday, Jefferson City police detectives received word that Jack Randolph had arrived at his grandmother's home in Atlanta. Atlanta law enforcement responded to the grandmother's residence, and confirmed Jack to be safe.

This case started when Jack Randolph's family told authorities he was with his biological father, Kerry Randolph of Jefferson City, and Jack's mother received information that the Mr. Randolph planned to take the child to Atlanta. According to the mother, the father did not have legal rights to take the child, although no court order could initially be found at the time to confirm this information.

An endangered child advisory was issued, and information was developed that Mr. Randolph may be taking the child to Atlanta to see family. Detectives were able to make contact with family in Atlanta, who had no knowledge that Mr. Randolph was planning to visit. In addition, any attempts to contact Mr. Randolph were unsuccessful, as he had apparently turned off his cellular phone. Family members in Atlanta were cooperative with law enforcement requests for assistance

The investigation as to potential criminal matters is ongoing, as a determination regarding specific civil and criminal issues must be examined to determine what course of action will follow.
