With Holts Summit resident Aaron Hazelton dropping out of the mayoral race, Lucas Fitzpatrick, current Holts Summit mayor, will be unopposed for the seat.
Fitzpatrick shared why he decided to run again and what he hopes to accomplish if re-elected.
If re-elected, what are you looking forward with another term?
My goals for the City of Holts Summit include getting more citizens involved in the community, business growth and expanding the city for the coming years.
Examples of getting more citizens involved include: assisting the Optimist Club to grow the youth baseball and softball programs, working toward assisting and implementing youth football and soccer programs, helping with the launch of the Movies in the Park program. Also, major redevelopment in our parks such as new trails, sidewalks, lights, fencing, the amphitheater and parking all with existing revenues.
Examples of business growth are to continue to be aggressive in the pursuit of businesses, such as Pro Food Systems, for community growth through programs like EEZ that was implemented to attract businesses like Pro Foods, the largest employer in Holts Summit.
Examples of expanding the city have included the recent purchase of a new city hall and replacing worn out equipment to ensure city operations are efficient and effective for the coming years. The police department has been provided with new police equipment, reliable vehicles and officer safety equipment. We expanded the street department’s snow plow fleet to ensure the safety of citizens by clearing the roads faster during inclement weather. The city purchased land to develop an industrial park, which will provide business growth. Also, we are looking at the expansion of the city limits to offer those customers the option of city sewer service and other services such as law enforcement.
For another response from Fitzpatrick, pick up the Sunday, April 5 edition of the Fulton Sun.
