For eight years, the Second Sight Friends have been providing local retirement homes and community agencies with equipment to help senior citizens see and read better.
To raise the funds needed to buy this equipment, the Friends are holding a barbecue, bake sale, quilt raffle and silent auction, all rolled into one event, on Oct. 11. Rain or shine, the event will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Thanks to donations from local businesses, the silent auction, which as already begun, features baskets from the National Churchill Musuem, U.S. Cellular, Tanglewood Golf Course, Midwest Auto Center and more. Online bidding via the VisionArts website will be open through 3:45 p.m. and bidding via call or text will be open through 4 p.m. on Oct. 11.
A quilt, donated by Naught-Naught, will be raffled during the fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased from any VisionArts Eyecare staff member. Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5.
