As Callaway County residents start tallying the things they’re grateful for in anticipation of Thanksgiving, the Fulton Sun and Fulton Rotary are asking them to share those blessings with their neighbors.

Starting Nov. 11, the newspaper is again gathering donations of hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for the Fulton Sun Warming Tree. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 13, and all items will go to SERVE, Inc.

Pati McDonald, the Sun’s marketing director, said she is looking forward to seeing the response from Callaway residents, who have in the past donated hundreds of cold-weather necessities.

“The community is so awesome with it,” McDonald said. “Families come in with their children, we had one woman last year who spent the whole year knitting things for the Warming Tree.

“That’s what’s so special about it. It just makes the holidays so much cooler when you see people come in for that.”

In addition to the Warming Tree, the Fulton Sun once again is partnering with the Fulton Rotary to conduct a coat and blanket drive.

New and gently-used, clean coats and blankets, which will be donated to SERVE and Our House, can be dropped off at the Fulton Sun, Central Bank, ReMax and The Callaway Bank in Fulton and Mokane.
