Hurt heads to state in singles; Strough, Barkho go in doubles

Fulton will be represented in both the Class 1 singles and doubles state tennis tournaments.

Senior Josh Hurt qualified in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marshall’s Jacob Ringlen in Monday’s sectional tournament at the high school athletic complex. He will be joined by the Hornets’ senior doubles team of Scott Strough and Philip Barkho, who advanced with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Marshall’s Gerritt Murphy and John Hadley.

Hurt, Strough and Barkho will compete in the state tournament starting May 24 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
