KCA Banquet to feature speaker scheduled to fly doomed plane

When Kingdom Christian Academy supporters gather March 16 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield for their 4th annual Fundraising Banquet, they will do more than enjoy an array of buffet-style food to support one of Fulton's private Christian schools.

They'll also hear from guest speaker Steve Scheibner, an American Airlines pilot whose last-minute assignment change from a plane destined to crash into the World Trade Center during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks caused him to rededicate his life to serving God.

Banquet coordinator Zoe Koelling said the school was excited to host Scheibner, who is also in the mid-Missouri area for a parenting seminar at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, to highlight the school's "hidden treasure" as a source of Christian education in Fulton.

"He's got a passion for Christian education and raising healthy Christian leaders through out kids," said Koelling. "That's what we want to promote."
