The agencies providing rent assistance vouchers to low-income families in Callaway County haven't had to cut services due to the federal budget sequester - yet.
But both agencies here that provide Section 8 vouchers - The Fulton Housing Authority in city limits or Central Missouri Community Action for Callaway and surrounding counties - continue to serve a major need for assistance in keeping a roof over local families' heads.
CMCA currently has a waiting list of about 180 that will take 10 months to work through. The Fulton Housing Authority has temporarily closed its waiting list in July because it has exceeded a two-year wait.
