Miller will be leaving Aug. 2 to lead the state-level association and advocacy group, comprised of corporate YMCAs in Missouri. Its mission statement reads "working toward a collective impact ... in areas of public policy, state initiatives and developing staff," according to missouriymcas.org.

"It's a unique opportunity. We've always been a part of the Missouri State Alliance and I've been active with the organization," Miller said. "We just received some funding to work at the state level on public policy around childhood obesity, and as one of the many volunteers that put in time to work on that project, I was honored and excited to pursue the position."

ion, Miller said she hopes to work on the "complex issues" involving obesity as well as to continue to build up the relatively new organization.

"It's a mixed blessing," Miller said. "It's hard to leave the Callaway Y, it's very near and dear to my heart, but the opportunity to work at the statewide level and have a greater impact is certainly an opportunity I look forward to."
