Woman pleads guilty to embezzling in Fulton

A Columbia woman admits that she conducted a mortgage fraud and embezzlement scheme that cost a Fulton business more than a half million dollars.

Prosecutors say Terrie Lynn,48, Johnson pleaded guilty Thursday to charges arising from crimes she committed while workings as a manager at the Fulton office of Landchoice Co., between December 2007 and December 2008.

Johnson admitted she twice refinanced the mortgage on her home by providing false information to receive two banks loans.

She also admitted to embezzling $276,173 from Landchoice by diverting income checks and escrow funds into a bank account her employer wasn't aware of, then writing checks to herself and her personal business.

A sentencing date has not been set.
