S.C. iPad initiative trial successful in first three weeks

During the regular meeting of the South Callaway Board of Education Wednesday, Superintendent Mary Lynn Battles said that the pilot program for their student iPad initiative has been a success.

So far, South Callaway's 4rd and 7th graders have been utilizing the tablet devices in both classwork and homework for the past three weeks, beginning with a series of parent orientations in January. In her report to the Board of Education, Battles said the results have been "amazing."

"It's so exciting with what it's doing with getting our kids engaged," she said. "We've had kids prior to this who would have done most anything to avoid a writing assignment and are getting into it. They're posting on Google so the teacher can do editing right along with the student and give remote guidance."
