It is a day of indulgence for some, but Mardi Gras has become a way for one Callaway church to bring the Millersburg community together and raise some money for its ministries.
The Millersburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is holding its second Mardi Gras Supper and Silent Auction 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Fundraiser Chair Patty Eggleston said that the church has often done fundraisers with a Valentine’s Day or President’s Day theme, but last year was the first time they had decided to unofficially observe Mardi Gras.
“It was well attended and everybody had such a good time, so we decided this would be fun to do again,” said Eggleston. “We had close to 60 (attendees.) For us, that’s a lot of people.”
